- 2019 Alltrack SE
My 2019 Alltrack SE, 6 speed DSG, makes a loud roaring or droning noise which comes from the front of the car and which can be felt as a vibration in the steering wheel. The noise and vibration start around 20 mph and get much more pronounced around 40-50 mph. The sound is related to speed and not engine rpm, and continues when the car is coasting in neutral.
I bought the car four months ago with 26,000 miles and noticed the noise right away. The original Falkens still had tread, but were ready to be replaced. I had a local independent shop check and the determined it was tire noise, not the wheel bearings. I put on a new set of Michelin CrossClimate 2s and the noise didn’t change. The VW dealer said today that it is the new Michelins and that everything else is fine. Current miles are 31,500 with about 600 on the new tires.
I’m stumped. Has anyone else had this problem? The Michelins are supposed to be super quiet.
