I've had random blackouts before, but last week the speakers in my car decided not to work even though the volume was on. Restarted the car several times and the sound still would not come on. Drove it to the dealer and they reset my ECU and it finally worked. Anyone had the same problems?

I had the same issue. Took it to the dealer they checked for codes and found nothing. I also was not able to load any thing to hard drive (music) from the CD player or an IPod, it was not able to recognize but i was able to see the device in the window it just wasn't active. Very happy with the dealer and the car!!!

Just happened again today, radio is on and everything seems to respond on the MMI, just no sound on my S3.

Resurrecting this post, my wife's A3 had this issue a few times, the only quick solution is to reset the mmi system via the three button solute. My S3 however will intermittently drop the volume akin to an in coming call. I. E. Listen at volume 24 then drops to level 14

the audi system seems to be very close to a home pc. what i tend to do is unplug the battery and plug it into a trickle charger. i do this once every few months. it helps reset everything and charges up the battery to 100%. it never fails to be around 75% when i hook it up.

the positive outcome is that its all fresh and the cpu get a reset. also i always notice that the car runs better for a day as the battery is sitting at 100%. after i park over night it does drop back down.
i guess my next mod will be to upgrade my battery for more power. i have done this before with other cars i own. it does wonders for the electrical and drivability.

lol. [cheers]

so i did a recharge on my Q3 2016. i usually take off one of the cables on the battery but this time i decided to leave it on. well the cars trip computer estimated fuel left in miles is now changing all the time while im driving. while driving it seems to increase my distance and shorten it. so it will start at 250 miles left and then it will say i have 300 miles left then it will go to 280 miles left. it needs a reboot with a disconnect at this point. the issue with reboot is that this Q3 has a hard battery cover which makes things very difficult to work with. im about to remove the battery cover and use the soft S3 battery cover. also i need to realign the TB when i do this as well. its always misaligned whenever i remove the battery is disconnected. as for the S3 we dont need to worry about this as it religns the TB automatically.
