Fog lamp grill, mod?

I've been looking around and for whatever reason the S3 (2018) have a solid grill where the fog lamps should be and are on the A-4/S4's. Anyone have any ideas why the A3/S3's don't have fog lamps and ideas what to do with that area?

this has been mentioned before and no one really knows why but there are theories.

there is a guy who has already modified this area with oem fog lamp units from the a3.
