S3 noisy diff bearing

Hi guys
Anyone have any issues with a noisy diff bearing? Is this a common problem? I have a 2016 facelift model with one and been quoted silly money to fix 😞 if so was a recall not done ? Thanks 👍🏻

if its the wheel bearing its should be easy to fix at home. the part itself is expensive.
