I've been checking all YouTube postings for instructions on installing a mirror tap for a radar detector but the only ones are for older models. I'm kind of afraid to pull down on the plastic covers over the mirror and then trying to find the correct pins for the positive and negative spots to plug in the mirror tap. Would appreciate if anyone has installed a detector using the mirror taps in a newer A3/S3 and would know what pins to use.

i have not used those wires but i would recommend testing it with a dmm.
that will ensure your able to get the correct wire and not short out anything.

the reason i dont plan on using those as it may draw too much amperage from the accessory you planning on using. it might throw off the module its connected to or overdraw on the small wires. not to say it will but its a chance without really understanding that area. pulling from the fuse box would be safer. on mine, i have also pulled on that plastic cover to see whats there before. i notice now that the part is looser and rattles more. i would have to either buy a new piece or somehow glue that part to keep it from rattling now.

i know this isnt what your looking for but let us know how it goes.

I pulled off the trim pieces around the mirror off (was not that easy) then did use a volt meter and found the 12V switched pins but had a really difficult time getting the mirror tap pins inserted and didn't want to force anything so I put the trim pieces back (took quite some time) and now decided to just run a wire along the headliner, down the door and into the fuse box. You might be right about current draw using the mirror taps so going directly to the fuse box is the safest way I believe. Now, I have to try and locate where the heck the fuse box is.
